Is Your Second Verse, Same as the First?
1.5 HoursTired of the same old music activities? This workshop is filled with new ways of using music in your classroom. Many topics from other workshops above will be addressed: instrumental music, props, literacy, rhyming and beat activities for toddlers and preschool aged children.
And the beat goes on: Keeping The Beat With 0- 3 year olds 1 HourExplore the most basic of musical elements – beat. Learn about the importance of beat and discover how to design and lead music based experiences for infants and toddlers, using voice, instruments, books and props in a wide range of aural, oral and motor activities. Participants will also learn why music for young children is an important way to stimulate vocalization and vocabulary, as well as build active listening and responding skills. 1.5 HoursPuppets have a captivating presence that can help teachers and caregivers throughout the day. This hands on workshop gives simple techniques for bringing puppets and stuffed animals to life in order to encourage musical responses from children. We will demonstrate many activities using props that can easily be used in a childcare/preschool setting. Does your program have limited funds? 1.5 Hours A variety of songs, rhymes and techniques will be explored to help teachers incorporate literacy during music time (and music during literacy time)! This workshop teaches how the use of props, movement, music, and drama can bring toddler stories to life, reinforce concepts and literacy development, and foster in young children a love of books that will last a lifetime! Participants will be introduced to a variety of books for infants and toddlers and learn how they can be enhanced with music, movement, gestures, chants, props, using all the senses. 1 Hour During this workshop, teachers will learn the benefits of using instrumental music in their classroom, and how to incorporate more music "without" words into their day. Teachers will walk away with many new ideas for activities using a rich repertoire of music their students will love!
